BANANARAMA

ABOUT

A good way south from mainland Europe, some 1000km off the coast of Morocco, the Canary Islands are an intriguing mix of quaint architecture and millenia-old nature. Colonial houses with teak blinds line the streets of elegant coastal cities, prehistorical jungles cover the slopes of dormant volcanoes, and dimmed city lights ensure you can always see the stars. At the juncture of the two, large banana plantations fill the dampness with smells of petrol and green fruit, while the ocean crashes below, on rocks where crosses and flowers lay in memoriam.
